I’m a girl who likes to eat.
Buffalo wings. Fries. Pizza. Steak. BBQ. Whatever is probably the unhealthiest, is my favorite. And on top of that, I hate sweating — so let’s count how many times you’ll regularly find me in a gym.
Now, however, after ending my 20s I know that my body isn’t going to bounce back as easy as it once did after days of bad eating and drinking. Recently, I was in a time crunch and wanted to squeeze into that little red birthday dress I had and knew I wanted to lose at least 5lbs because like a lot of us, my weight tends to stick to my mid-section. I did a bit of research, made sure I ate clean for a week, and incorporated an ACV detox drink into my daily intake and I lost a total of 6lbs in 7 days.
So, what is ACV and what does it do?
Apple cider vinegar is made in a two-step process, very similar to how alcohol is made and is the most popular vinegar amongst the health community. ACV is made by fermenting the sugar from apples which in turn results in the acidic acid which is the active ingredient in vinegar. Unfiltered ACV contains “the mother” (in popular brands such as Braggs) which are strands of proteins, enzymes, and friendly bacteria which make up the filmy, murky substance you find at the bottom of the bottle.

So, with the combined natural benefits of both, you can see why a shot of ACV a day (or twice a day) can ultimately help boost your overall health and for me, aid in weight loss and reduction of bloating.
For the 7 days I tried this mixture, I drank it both in the morning on an empty stomach before I had anything else and at night right before bed. Again, in addition to this, I cut out soft drink and sweets and drank lemon water throughout the day, as well.
If you’re just starting the lemon juice helps mask the taste of the ACV (I won’t lie to you, it’s disgusting.) I also recommend drinking the mixture with a straw so that the acidic properties of the ACV won’t stain your teeth.
For the daily mixture, I combined 1 tablespoon of ACV (with the “Mother”) with 1 tablespoon of lemon juice in 1/4 cup of water and used the small mason jars to store it. You can easily find these mason jar at Walmart or Amazon. You can easily just mix the ingredients daily in a cup but for me I found that it was easier just to grab my mason jars from the fridge and chug it down without thinking about it. Combine this to your daily workout routine and clean eating for even better results and as time progresses, increase your ACV measurement. Ultimately as you become used to the taste, you want to increase the amount of ACV you add to about 3tbsps and about a 1/2tbsp of lemon juice. Some people even just take a shot of the ACV alone but tailor the detox drink to your liking and whatever works best for your and your journey to get snatched and healthy!
