It’s finally the summer-time and we ALL want to be fine. Self-admittedly, I don’t drink enough water and I am trying to find creative ways to incorporate more into my day. From setting timers, buying a million cute cups to encourage me to drink more, and even setting small goals to encourage myself — it has to be done.
Apart from being refreshing in the scorching Texas heat, adding a few extra ingredients packed with benefits to your water can also help you shed a few extra pounds and detox your body.
Lemons – Lemons are well known for being a great antioxidant to aid in weight loss. Lemons also help to aid in digestion, boosts your Vitamin C, rejuvenates your skin, and boosts your energy and mood.
Limes – Limes are a great additive to your daily water intake. Limes not only improve your digestive system and aids in detoxification, but they also are rich in magnesium, regulate high blood pressure, improve your immune system, and helps to fight infections.
Mint – My last ingredient used for this specific recipe, mint help soothe your digestive track, eliminate toxins from the body, reduce the growth of fungus & bacteria, treats nausea and headaches, and can also alleviate allergies and hay fever.
For this simple detox recipe, all you need is:
- A pitcher
- 2-3 large lemons
- 2-3 small limes
- A gallon of water
- Fresh mint
Simply, cut the lemons and limes into slices, add it and a few leaves of mint into the pitcher, and add your water and refrigerate. I try to drink a glass each morning and night before bed and a few glasses throughout the day.
